Social Enterprises

Coming soon – The Social Enterprises listed below will not be limited to only these categories. Our Social enterprises will be a reflection of industries identified by our participants.

A2T Social Enterprises will provide a simulated “real life” work and learning environment for NDIS participants in the Gold Coast and surrounding regions, with the primary purpose of helping people with disability learn the skills they need to live independently, and/or to successfully transition into education or, further training including transition into meaningful mainstream employment. It is important to note that A2T Social Enterprises creates pathways for people with disabilities to achieve their personal goals, learn skills and build capacity – and is not a direct employer.

Sean’s Employment Story: A Journey Begins

“Lee has really taken the time to get to know me and help make a plan that works with who I am and how to get the job I want in the future”

We have had the pleasure of working with Sean for nearly six months now. When we first began our sessions, they often started in his room, watching video games and working through some of his barriers. This was part of our discovery phase, where we got to know his likes and dislikes and worked on short-term goals, with the first one being to reduce his time in his room and encourage him to get out into the community. While we work at Sean’s pace everything, we work towards is around supporting him in employment and this is his journey….

Throughout the discovery phase, we learned that while Sean is highly knowledgeable about gaming and IT, he also has a strong passion for being in nature, surrounded by animals, and a desire to give back- this is his happy place.

Sean has not been able to work for several years, so building his confidence within the community and establishing a routine has been crucial to his progress. As we continue to work with Sean to tailor his “perfect job,” the skills and experiences he gains along the way will undoubtedly benefit him in the future.

At the beginning of the year, we explored volunteer opportunities at animal welfare shelters, but none of them felt like the right fit. Fast forward two months, and we’ve found a wonderful wildlife rescue centre where Sean can work both independently on tasks and alongside other volunteers. This environment not only aligns with his interests but also allows him to build confidence in working with a team.

We’re incredibly proud of how far Sean has come. Now, at the start of our shifts, he no longer needs us to enter his home. Instead, we meet him outside ready to start the day.

As we continue to work towards finding paid employment for Sean, we are excited about the progress he’s making. Knowing that each step is building a stronger foundation for his future success and independence.
